SIGHT is short for Service of Information, Guidance, and Hospitality. SIGHT is one of Mensa's least known, yet most helpful, rewards for it's members. Just a few of the things we can help with:
- Information on museums, art exhibitions, and other intellectual stimulation;
- Help finding quality medical care should the unfortunate occur during your travels;
- The best places to eat, whether a great cup of coffee in the morning to casual dining to intimate bistros to posh steakhouses, Iowa has a wide variety of quisines for every taste;
Playful release at Iowa's attractions, zoos, amusement parks, botanical gardens (and soon indoor rainforests!);
- Information on local colleges for those making The Decision;
- Genealogy research - Our members are great at finding obscure cemetery or record depositories;
- If you're considering a move to one of the many communities in central Iowa, we can show you the places you might want to consider shopping in, and the best neighborhoods for raising children.
Do people really use SIGHT?
Absolutely! For over 40 years, the SIGHT network has been used by traveling Mensans throughout the world. In our chapter, we have a SIGHT Coordinator who'll do whatever she can to help travelers out. In your local chapter, there is a SIGHT Coordinator who does the same for our members, should we be in the area. SIGHT exists as a cooperation between all of the Mensa chapters, enabling members access to a wide variety of culture.
How does SIGHT work?
Depending on the situation, and all circumstances involved, the SIGHT Coordinator may be able to find a SIGHT Host to accomodate you. In other cases, the Coordinator can help find the best hotel for your stay. After you're situated, the Coordinator is your point-of-contact with our community of Mensans, able to answer any questions you might have.
For more information, you should use Mensa's guest forms, or contact our Coordinator:
